<reviewbody>This whole run is spectacular, this show is IMHO the best. The tremendous power of the jams is really mind-boggling! This show along with 6-24-70 help remind me how much fun Jerry was having as he was becoming a LEGEND, before being one became an anchor. Really a must listen. You can hear the smile on his face.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>This is the last truly great Pigpen show.
Would we like a vault edition? Of course. Where's the Bear...? Very safe in his State vault.
After sampling the earlier tunes in the set my d/l began at the Good Lovin' where the mojo finds its hand. And if starting there this is a very* good audience tape from the fabulous Capitol Theatre where some of the finest performances from 1970 live on thanks to archive.org. Use your EQ, strap on your headphones, buckle up with your favorite flight attendant and enjoy! The Rhythm Devils' tone, particularly from Alligator > Waggin' Jam with Jerry's snap-crackle soloing, establishes a constant bubbling goo pushing/pulling/ stretching and making the whole thing congeal like a grateful soup that bursts through the newly forming classics of NFA > GDTR...and Mtn. Jam > Caution, lest we forget the primal source of it all. How often in '70 do we get to hear Pig on harp blowin' hard on this deep groove as tho he were still all big and fat? Timeless Raging Caution > !!!! 'Beware the bear...' little girls. No chopped song tails. Happy gators one and all, if deadicated. Just jump right on into the swamp.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>my brother took me to this one.it was my 1st official time seeing them, not including a few minutes at expo 67.i brought a portable with me but only got the acoustic set not knowing how long they'd play and that i'd need new batteries.the above show includes a song and a half from my tape that was missed by ken leigh.it would have been worth it just for the closing jam.</reviewbody>

    <reviewbody>(2 stars reflects sound)
5 Stars??? If it were my first show, I may tolerate this, and while the performance certainly deserves a higher rating , this recording, like so many other 4&5-star audiences, is quite unlistenable. I just don't get it.
But I will state the obvious in saying this deserves 5 stars WAY before any of the most pristine soundboards post 1991.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>wow, includes a sound check for the show-Uncle Johns Band, Candyman, and Attics, what a fine rarity.....and the rest of the live show is great....long live the Capitol Theatre shows, would be great if there was better tapes for the runs there and put them out on dicks picks....</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>sound isn't bad at all for an audience, especially considering the magnitude of these portchester shows, and the fact that there are no boards available as of yet.

i was looking for 'gators and knew the 11-8 show was hot, then i remembered this was the show with the 'mountain' jam in it, & i was sold.

i'm only grabbing the 4th disc as of now; -that's where the HEAT is, and to my ears it is an excellent audience.

apparently there is a different source on the first half of the show, so previous reviewers which bashed the quality might not have made it to the second source.

Start listening with alligator at the beginning of disc four, then tell me this is horrible quality---NOT!

This 4th disc of jamming is NOT to be missed!

<reviewbody>Pigpen shoulda been a superstar, man.....yeah, the bass is boomy and the upper end is hissy, but what the hell - it's 1970 and Pigpen is in unbelievable form this night. If you have a SBD, great. If not, download this one. 5 stars for performance, 3 for sound (it's not even all that bad).</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>This show is absolutely rip roaring. Yea the sound is a little fuzzy at times, but honestly you're so caught up in the power of the playing, that at least I don't care a bit. Everything here smokes. Powerful versions of Good Lovin.,Caution,Alligator, and then a great jam called Waggin his tail. (I know I know...out of order...tough, I'm rambling)

Plus one of my favorite versions ofCandman, and a beautiful Lovelight.

This show doesn't let up, there's not a down moment from start to finish.</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>The Acoustic set made my hair stand on end, great stuff. The quality of the Acoustic set is not good but with a good equalizer you can eliminate some low end and high end noise. There is a switch from one recording to another between songs when the crowd is clapping that was done wonderfully. The Electric set has good quality so don't be turned off by the first sets quality</reviewbody>

<reviewbody>Nice AUD recording, with some essential material.....

As a whole, I prefer this show to the better-known concert on the 8th. While the entire show is VERY strong, "Alligator" thru "Lovelight" is ESSENTIAL 1970-vintage Dead. The thunderous closing of "Lovelight" will SLAM you to your knees, begging for more. CLASSIC Grateful Dead, at the peak of their powers!!!!
</reviewbody>
<reviewtitle>KILLER material to be found here....!!</reviewtitle>
